GALLATIN, TN—Opal Beck (Class of 2027) was awarded her Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from Volunteer State Community College in May. She will walk with her Bachelor’s Degree with majors in Music Education and Math Education at Welch College’s Commencement exercises in May 2027. Opal earned the A.S. in Computer Science through the Welch–Vol State Reverse Transfer agreement by taking a Vol State computer science course each semester while a full-time dormitory student at Welch.
As a member of Rejoice! Ministry Team, Opal assisted in leading worship at the recent Texas State Meeting at Lakehills Legacy Church in Cedar Park, Texas. Opal, congratulations from Texas Free Will Baptists!
A degree in Computer Science helps Opal to pursue high-demand job openings in areas such as software development, data analysis, finance, healthcare, and science. It will also make her eligible to teach computer science in K−12 education.
In addition to Computer Science, the Welch-Vol State agreement offers Associate’s Degrees in Marketing, Accounting, Journalism, Communications, Criminal Justice, and Electrical Engineering. Other Welch students earning one of these degrees while completing their Welch Bachelor’s Degree expect to graduate next year.
If you are interested in earning one of these Associate’s Degrees while attending Welch, contact AnnaGee Harris at agharris@welch.edu or notify your Welch academic advisor.
