If you were to ask me ‘what is one of the most exciting things that has happened at IM since becoming the general director in 2011?’, I would without hesitation respond, the influx of young people (your generation) responding ‘yes’ to God’s calling and then allowing IM the privilege of being their sending mission. Of the 103 IM missionaries presently serving overseas more than 50 new candidates have been approved and sent out over the past 10 years.
Why are we seeing this increase in new missionaries? I think there are several factors that contribute to this uptick. One, God is moving, as He always has, in the lives of all believers and that most certainly includes young people. Our short-term programs, ETEAM and CMP(College Missions Program) are indispensable in keeping the challenge of the needs around the world before the youth of Free Will Baptist. The biggest factor is that those feeling directed by God to consider missions have responded ‘yes’ with a willing heart to go wherever He leads.
The IM leadership team has prayed about our future and we are asking God to send 100 new missionaries to us over the next 10 years. If you have any interest in serving cross-culturally please call us at IM and let us walk with you in your journey of obedience to take the gospel to the nations. We would feel honored to have you as an IM missionary if God is directing you towards cross-cultural ministry.
