TEXAS CHALLENGE DAY

Sunday, August 4th is Texas Challenge Day! What Texans have known for years is no longer a secret. The word is out: now more than ever, Texas is the land of opportunity! People from all over our country (and even all over our world) are coming to live here in the great state of Texas!

But the great opportunities are not simply in business; they exist in the spiritual realm as well!

As Christians here in Texas, we know that this migration to our state is just the latest fulfillment of Jesus’ words. Jesus said, “Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!” John 4:35b

The Lord may as well have been speaking about Texas in 2024!

In light of His command and our unique opportunities, the Texas FWB Mission Board is calling on pastors and members in all Texas FWB churches to join us on Sunday August 4 in a special time of prayer for the mission field here in Texas.

We will be sending bookmarks, wristbands, and buttons to pass out to members of your congregation within the next 2 weeks. We would encourage you to use these items to to spark a day of prayer on August 4. Or perhaps you may feel led to use them to promote a month-long prayer emphasis!

However you choose to use them, the TXMB is asking for you to join us as we focus our prayers in these 2 specific areas:

  1. Our 3 Current Mission Works to Prosper and Thrive

Our current mission works are:
– Authentic Church in Victoria (Kyle and Beth Howell)
– Connect Church in Woodforest (Heath and Jamie Ferguson)
– Quest Church in Waco (Jim and Tracey Kilgore)

  1. Our need for New Missionaries and Mission Fields

Jesus also instructed us “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Luke 10:2

As our current missionaries and mission works approach self-supporting status, we seek God’s plan for our next step. We are searching for new missionaries and new target cities, and we need wisdom for these decisions. But most of all, we need a move of God to accomplish the work of planting new works for His glory and for our state’s collective efforts in the Great Commission!

Will you agree to join other churches across the state as we partner in prayer on Sunday August 4, Texas Challenge Day? We need each other, and we need God’s hand to be with us, so let’s unite and rise to meet the opportunity!

For the Kingdom work,

The Texas Mission Board
