Greetings from China Spring and Quest Church!
There are some incredible things going on and we wanted to share the news with all of you.
We began holding weekly Sunday services in September of 2022 in the cafeteria of the China Spring Middle School. We were definitely grateful for a place to gather, even if that meant having to set up and break down for every service. We hadn’t been there long when we were told that the rent would double by January 1st. The cost for holding 2 hour services each week was going to cost us $2,400 a month! We prayed and approached the board and we were allowed the entire year of 2023 at the old rate. We also began searching for a permanent place to meet at that point, knowing the inevitable was coming January 1, 2024.
Driving around, I noticed a church on the corner of Dosher and Sundown, just a few miles from our house. I didn’t pay much attention to it until a for sale sign appeared on the property. The only problem was that the listed price was $550,000 for the almost 4,700 square foot metal building and 1.2 acres of land and we were only $550,000 short. After looking at the building, our realtor said that he believed that a more reasonable price was $350,000. After a talk with the Texas Mission Board and a gift of $50,000, we made an offer of $350,000 and the response from the seller was that they were “highly offended.” So the China Spring Middle School cafeteria looked like home for now.
I had told our church of the seller’s response and that we should pray and wait to see what the Lord had for us. I have to be honest, I had no idea or how incredible the outcome would be! But, I watched as the price of that property slowly dropped over the next year. A price drop of thousands of dollars on at least two different occasions.
In late 2023, I received a call from Pastor Greg Cleveland from Skyridge FWB Church in Noble, Oklahoma. Greg told me that his church raised money each year and gave it away to a work and this year they decided to give it to Quest Church. Two things though, I had to drive up to Noble to get it AND they would not tell me how much it was. On January, 14, I was there and after preaching, a check for Quest Church was presented to me in the amount of $50,000! AMAZING!
I didn’t think things could get any better, until we received a call from our realtor that the price of the property was now listed at $400,000 and their agent was sure that an offer of $375,00 would be accepted. We offered and they accepted! On the very same day, Tracey went to make our deposit, which she always did at the drive thru teller…except on that day. She went in and the loan officer happened to be there. Long story short, we ended up with full funding and at 4%….that is no typo! 4%! That is about half of the going rate for a commercial loan. In the same week, a friend of mine in Florida told me that he was sending Quest Church a check for $40,000!
We will be closing on the property sometime in March and we cannot wait to see all that the Lord has planned for this ministry! Thank you for your prayers and for your support in this work.
